Due to internal promotion, a rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Manager to join one of the UK's largest local authority, an "Excellent" 4-star authority as judged by the audit commission.

Leading the Finance team of the Children, Families and Education Directorate you will be responsible for the overall budget of £1.4 billion, 575 Schools, 250,000 children, 740 early years providers.

You will be responsible for the financial integrity and control of the Directorate, working directly with Cabinet Members, the Strategic Management team, Head Teachers and Governors to achieve Directorate business objectives. The successful candidate will have collective responsibility for the development of corporate council financial strategy, policy, financial standards, processes and procedures.

You will need the passion, vision and strategic leadership skills that are necessary to build on the successes of the Finance Unit. Your will have significant post qualification experience gained within local authority and posses the gravitas & confidence to work closely with the Cabinet Members, School Governors, Head Teachers.
