Brent is a modern and forward looking Council in the process of an ambitious change programme, focussing on efficiency and improvement to all services within the Council. These changes will promote urban regeneration and strengthen community cohesion. It is focused on enhancing the quality of life for everyone who lives or works in Brent.
This is an exciting time for both the Council and the Department. The Children & Families Department has been recognised as good and strongly improving by CPA, JAR and OFSTED inspections. We have recently been awarded £85m funding for the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme in the first phase. The programme will provide more modernised and effective building for educating secondary aged pupils. There is also a substantial stream of capital funding which will assist in improving primary school buildings.
Brent Children and Families Finance Team is a great place to work in. The Team has been subject to recent changes that will ensure that we deliver a valued and customer focused service to all customers, which also include schools. We have recently restructured and are leading the way for rolling out a new Oracle system to the rest of the Council.
The Accountancy Manager is a pivotal post, which will ensure that the Department’s finances are managed correctly. The post holder will be responsible for working together with a team of accountants and other senior accountancy assistants to ensure that the accounts of the department are maintained accurately to enable management accounting information to be reported to senior managers within the department and the Council.
I am looking for an individual who is looking to step up to the challenge of managing large budgets and has also had some involvement in implementing a new financial system. Equally importantly, is the ability to provide new and innovative ways of delivering a professional and valued service to our service users.
