My Public Sector client are recruiting a Senior Procurement Officer to assist in driving forward the strategic procurement strategy for the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- To drive a professional and seamless approach to the organisations procurement process that supports the overall strategy.
- To deliver cashable and non-cashable savings and best practice across a range of procurement activities.
- To provide professional and sound procurement advice to the organisation, ensuring that best practise approaches are embedded into the ways of working.
- To work with the Procurement Manager, key service area contacts, and the wider team to identify, lead and deliver savings and best practice across a range of procurement activities.
- Both lead, and provide advice, on procurement activity at all stages; including project preparation, investigation and planning, supplier qualification, the tender process, and contract award, as well as supporting post contract award activity.
- Support and provide professional advice to projects teams on major multi-million pounds projects and contracts, using basic project management skills to ensure an efficient and effective approach.
- Take a lead role within a service area; including taking a proactive approach to service spend; maintaining an overview of procurement activity within the area; recognise areas for improvement and supporting the implementation of recommendations; champion best practise procurement and represent the team by providing high quality and professional support at all times.
- Develop procurement, contract and spend strategies and improvement plans for a number of key service areas, for a series of contracts with a total value of £30m - £100m.
- Identify improvements in the contract procurement approach and practises of the team in order that the service offering is robust and of a high quality.
- Support the development and implementation of contract management and performance monitoring for strategic, corporate and other projects and contracts, including supplier management and stakeholder compliance.
- Undertake market, product, and supplier analysis, to establish a base of knowledge about existing and future requirements, and potential opportunities.
- Support the establishment, where necessary, of stakeholder groups, networks and stakeholder consultation processes, in order to establish requirements, and develop specifications.
Successful candidates will have previous Public Sector experience in procurement at a similar level.
