Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust has embarked on an ambitious programme to be in the top 10% of trusts in England in terms of quality of clinical care and patient safety in the next 12 to 18 months and in doing so we will also achieve Foundation Trust status.  Initiatives such as the Productive Ward and other lean processes which are being introduced in different areas of the Trust to improve efficiency and performance demonstrate how we intend to move forward to our goal of becoming one of the best performing Trusts in England.

The Trust provides a full range of acute clinical services to a local population of approximately 360,000 from Northampton General Hospital and Danetre Hospital in Daventry. As a designated cancer centre we also provide oncology, chemotherapy and radiotherapy services to a wider population of 880,000 from Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire and South Leicestershire. The Trust employs more than 3,400 staff and in 2008/09 the Trust had a turnover of £200 million and delivered a surplus of £2.1 million.

The Human Resources Directorate has recently had £300,000 investment to restructure and modernise the function in line with Trust business needs and to deliver HR best practice to enable the Trust to meet its ambitious programme and to be a top local employer.

The Deputy Director of HR & OD will support the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development in delivering an effective and professional HR service to managers and staff employed across the Trust.  The post is responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest quality Human Resources and Organisational Development support, in order to enable the Trust to deliver its strategic objectives and deliver an excellent service to patients.
