Our Vision
To provide excellent clinical care at the heart of the community, ensuring we are the first choice hospital for our local population, our staff and our service commissioners.
About the Trust
Northampton General Hospital is located close to the centre of Northampton. We serve a local population of 360,000, have an annual turnover of more than £190million, 614 beds, 14 operating theatres, ITU and HDU facilities.
As a recognised cancer centre, we provide specialist care to a catchment population of 880,000. We are also developing local renal services and cardiology services as a sub-specialty of medicine with a capital investment of around £25million.
We have received national, regional and local recognition for the services we provide, including awards for cleanliness and catering services, national nursing awards, regional awards for promoting inclusion and good practice, development of new and changing roles and inter-professional learning, plus national awards for excellence in communications.
We also offer outpatient consultation and day case surgery at Danetre Hospital in Daventry, providing all the experience and back-up services of NGH in a new facility in the south-west of the county.
Our Community
As well as providing a full range of hospital services to our local communities who live in Northampton and the surrounding villages, and Daventry and South Northamptonshire, we provide specialist cancer services to people living in Northamptonshire, North Buckinghamshire and South Leicestershire.
Our History
The hospital moved to its present site in 1793, and has continued to provide healthcare to meet the needs of the local community for more than 200 years.
Our People
As a teaching hospital, we work closely with our partners in the University of Northampton, and the medical school at Leicester University to help train tomorrow’s doctors, nurses and other health professionals.
We are one of the largest employers locally, with more than 3,600 members of staff. We are strengthening our partnerships with local people, as well as neighbouring NHS trusts, health authorities, local authorities, GPs and primary care trusts.
