The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) investigates complaints from members of the public about government departments, the NHS and other public bodies. When a complaint is upheld, the Ombudsman seeks appropriate redress for the injustice or hardship suffered by the complainant.
The Ombudsman's role is independent of Government and the NHS and her Office aims to deliver a high quality complaints handling service that rights individual wrongs, drives improvements in public services and informs public policy.
There are three Divisions within PHSO: Operations, Communications and Corporate Resources. The Human Resources Operations team is part of the Corporate Resources Division.
Corporate Resources Division
The Deputy Chief Executive is responsible for the running of the Corporate Resources Division.
Corporate Resources’ core business is the provision of the best possible corporate services to the Office, delivered in accordance with the Ombudsman’s Principles of Good Administration. The Division’s aim is to deliver high quality, fit-for-purpose, cost effective and efficient services to our customers and other stakeholders and positively influence and enable the achievement of PHSO’s business objectives.
Corporate Resources is comprised of two Directorates, (Finance, Planning and Performance and People and Organisational Development) and two Units (Human Resources Operations and Service Delivery). In addition, it is responsible for the Office’s risk and assurance function and the Knowledge and Information Management programme.
Human Resources Operations
The Human Resources Operations service is delivered to customers from our two sites in Manchester and London by four teams, namely: Employee Relations; Recruitment; Payroll and Pensions; HR Information Systems. There are currently 14 professional and administrative staff offering specialist advice and support to all potential and existing staff.
The team work closely with the People and Organisational Development Directorate as one of the key roles of HR Operations is to help embed the People Strategy.
