The South London and Maudsley NHS Trust was formed in April 1999 as a result of the merger of Bethlem and Maudsley NHS Trust, Lewisham and Guys’ Mental Health NHS Trust and the mental health services of Lambeth Healthcare NHS Trust. In 2006 South London and Maudsley became the 50th NHS Foundation Trust. Each of the parts of the Trust makes its own contribution to the story of mental healthcare in London, a story which stretches back at least 760 years.
Today South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust services are delivered from a host of sites, although this position is based at Guys’ Hospital - close to London Bridge station.
