South West England is not only one of the country's fastest growing economies, it's also an
inspiring place to live and work. Our role as the region's Development Agency is to
champion and promote long-term sustainable economic prosperity, investing to unlock the
region's business potential. Our activities range from preparing the region's economic
strategy to investing in regeneration, encouraging inward investment, providing business
support, improving skills and influencing national and European decision-makers.
For a senior marketing and communications
professional, the complex mix of local, national
and international stakeholders - across public,
private and third sectors - offers challenge and
opportunity that few organisations can match.
We are now seeking a new Director of Marketing &
Communications, following the appointment of the
previous incumbent to a Chief Executive position.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategy &
Communications, and working closely with our
Chief Executive, you will work across the full
spectrum of our business during a time of change,
engaging with managers to build compelling
marketing and communications strategies.
Your own skills are likely to centre on strategic PR
and communications, and you will be crucial in
ensuring that a wide range of stakeholders,
including those in government, understand our
achievements and objectives.
Your leadership of a talented marketing team will
increase the profile of the South West with
business, government and overseas investors. In
addition, your strong media relations and ability
to remain calm and clear under pressure will help
us to speak with authority during periods of
turbulence.
To be successful, you'll need to demonstrate
achievement in a high level communications role
within the public, private or third sectors. A
strategic thinker with strong leadership skills,
you'll need to be politically astute with a good
understanding of marketing.
If you can rise to the challenge of being the
spokesperson for the South West RDA, want to be
central to the promotion of one of the UK's most
dynamic and exciting regions, and feel ready to
add wider value to our business in a highly
strategic role, we'd love to hear from you.
