South West Specialised Commissioning Group

Introduction from the Director of Specialised Commissioning:

Dear Applicant,

The coming year will be challenging and exciting for the South West Specialised Commissioning Group (SWSCG), as we expand our commissioning portfolio to incorporate the majority of specialised services. The World Class Commissioning of specialised services requires excellence in strategic commissioning and the management of financial resources. Key challenges include strategic needs assessment, service provider designation, patient and public engagement as well as financial modelling and planning for the longer term and establishing best practice business systems to ensure high quality service delivery and best value for Primary Care Trusts.

In order to provide the necessary leadership required to meet these challenges and those of the future the SCG is looking to recruit four Associate Directors of Commissioning and two Associate Directors of Finance.

The Associate Director of Commissioning for Mental Health and Learning Disability will lead and manage this complex area of specialised commissioning for the SCG. The Associate Directors of Specialised Commissioning for adults and paediatrics will lead the commissioning of a range of children’s and adult programmes, including contributing to national programmes, as well as being responsibility for managing relationships with providers and PCTs, in a given area of the SCG.

The Associate Directors of Finance for Performance and Information and Finance and Contracting, respectively, will support the Director of Finance and Performance for Specialised Services in developing and implementing financial strategy, information and business systems to underpin the SCGs strategic commissioning, procurement and performance management as well as supporting the management of relationships with key stakeholders.

For candidates keen to progress in their career these opportunities posts provide an opportunity to be part of designing and developing our commissioning and financial systems as well as leading projects and programmes of work. You will be part of an ambitious and rapidly developing team focussed upon commissioning specialised services to a World Class Standard.

If you have the skills we are looking for, relish working with a diverse range of stakeholders and a fast moving agenda, I would be delighted to receive your application.
