Director of HR and Communications

Dear Candidate

Thank you very much for your interest in this exciting opportunity with City and Islington College.

This year we have been celebrating our 20th Anniversary. We were the first new College to be formed after incorporation in 1993. In those 20 years we have built a national reputation for delivering high quality teaching and learning and helping our students to build successful careers and fulfilling lives. The College is one of the largest general FE Colleges in the sector and have around 14,000 students spread across five specialist centres across Islington. In 2013 students celebrated their A Level success with an overall pass rate of 98% and vocational students achieved a pass rate of 93% and 1315 students progressed to HE. Students and their needs really are at the heart of everything at the College.

We have also focused on running the College as an effective business and have generated significant cash surpluses to reinvest. The college delivered a healthy budget of approximately £52million in 2012/13 and has an outstanding financial category rating. Our building environment has been transformed and reflects the aspirations and ambitions of our students and staff.

We pride ourselves in being a good employer, indeed the first choice FE employer in London. In 2013 the College was identified by employees within the FE sector as having one of the best college reputations in the UK. In our recent staff survey 93% of staff said they enjoy their job and 90% agreed the College is a good employer and 100% of staff said
they are committed to the success of the College.

The Human Resources and Marketing Teams have made a significant contribution to the continued success of the College over the last 5 years and are totally focussed on providing outstanding services for both internal and external stakeholders. Both departments played key role in promoting the Vision, Mission and Values of the College and are true business partners.

If you have the vision, creativity and leadership skills, as well as the enthusiasm required to lead two high performing departments to even greater success, we would welcome your application.

Kind Regards
Frank McLoughlin CBE
