The Southwark Pension Fund is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme and is the largest pension fund in London in terms of scheme membership, with net assets of £2 billion.

As part of an ongoing commitment in digital technology and business transformation, Pension Services is at the start of an exciting new journey around future pension provision, service excellence and engagement with pension fund members and other stakeholders.

The Pension Services team manages the administration of the Southwark Pensions Fund and following the implementation of new pensions admin and payroll software in May 2022 we are looking for an exceptional manager for this role.

Key responsibilities of the Data Systems Manager include:

  • management of a specialist systems and data team, consisting of three other data specialist members;
  • planning and co-ordinating pension system support and developing digital systems and solutions to meet service requirements;
  • leading on the data management strategy covering the council’s various pension arrangements, both internally and externally from schools and other employers;
  • leading on all improvements around pensions data flow and cyber-security within Southwark Council and employers/schools across Southwark;
  • providing specialist advice and support on data/system issues, and assisting with the implementation of relevant policies, systems and procedures in conjunction with the corporate procedures, ensuring council-wide compliance;
  • responsible for all data interfaces from HR, i-Casework, Council Payroll and external payroll providers. The post holder is responsible for ensuring data integrity is maintained to a high level.
  • promoting the council’s ‘Digital First’ policy and facilitating member access and continuous improvement to ‘Member Self Service’ and Employer Portals; and
  • responsible for meeting the Pensions Regulator (TPR) standards around data management, reporting on common and scheme specific data failures, and ensuring data improvement plans are created as part of any TPR annual scheme return.

As a member of the Senior Management Team you will play a pivotal role in the re-shaping of Pension Services and the future service delivery.

We’re looking for someone who can motivate others and get the best out of a team. As well as having drive and determination and the skills and abilities necessary to enable Pension Services to meet its desired goals.

To be considered you need experience of working with computerised pensions administration systems/software (such as Altair or Civica UPM), including task and work flow management.

This is a great opportunity to join a high profile team at a time of real growth where you can actively participate in its ongoing success.

Southwark Council fully support flexible working and as such this we can offer this role with a mix of on site and home working.
