Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading providers of mental health, learning disability and drug & alcohol services for people of all ages in Southern England. We deliver high quality care across our 140 services, employing more than 3,000 staff across 39 sites, serving a population of 1.3 million, with an income of over £350m. We have been recognised as ‘Good’ by CQC and have a strong reputation for innovation and partnership working.

We have been at the forefront of championing the positive impact that digital innovation can have on mental health services and have been nationally recognised for our work in this area – winning the HSJ’s ‘Improving Mental Health Through Digital’ award in 2023. A key part of our success has been combining our Digital and wider Improvement functions together.

We are now seeking to appoint a new Director of Digital & Improvement. You will report to our Executive Director for Digital and Transformation as an integral member of the Trust leadership team, ensuring that we have the right technology and data vision, strategy, and roadmap to enable our clinical and digital transformation. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading a large team of 80 colleagues, across two services: Improvement & Operations, and Technical & Data Platforms.
  • Leveraging data, knowledge, and technology to improve clinical and operating model design across the Trust
  • Driving innovation, product, and service development
  • Delivering modern operational IT services and capability aligned to increasing expectations and needs.
  • Playing a dynamic system leadership role across our wider health and care communities, specifically leading towards increased digital maturity.

To succeed, you will be a senior leader with digital expertise gained within a healthcare setting, together with a strong track record of transformation and change. You will have successfully led digital innovation to improve service quality and effectiveness, drawing on QI methods, user centred design and other improvement frameworks. You will be an inspiring, collegiate, and compassionate leader who shares our values, with excellent people management skills and experience of building and developing highly effective teams.

In return, we offer an exciting opportunity to join a Trust with a strong culture of encouraging innovation, recognising the transformational impact that pioneering digital interventions can have on the lives of people that use our services, and our workforce.
