Head of Category – Theatres & Surgery
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join this London based NHS Trust as its Head of Category for Theatres and Surgery. Reporting into the Category Director and with responsibility for a team, your role will be responsible for the effective management of and the value delivery for the goods and services across the Theatres and Surgery Category.
As Head of Category you will take responsibility for the development of the category strategy and you will work with the Category Director to engage senior stakeholders across the wider landscape in order to understand requirements so that the category strategy can be continually reviewed and procurement and corporate objectives are delivered.
Main duties of this role will include:
- Responsible for leading development and maintenance of the Theatres & Surgery Category Strategy to deliver strategy and corporate objectives and to enable maximum aggregation of low-value spend, reduction in sourcing activity and reducing supplier base to enable value to be added by Management activities
- Develop and maintain Category plans for key spend areas and transformation programmes
- Responsible for defining the Commercial Strategy for each sourcing project, including but not limited to, clear sourcing outcomes and definition of contracts to be included.
- Responsible for working with end-users to scope and develop Project Initiation Documents (PIDs) to include project outlines, spend baselines, project scope and linking to approved Category Strategy
- Responsible for the level of spend with the Theatres & Surgery Category that is addressed by the Category Strategy
- Responsible for acting as the project sponsor during the sourcing phase of the procurement project.
- Responsible for managing potential supplier relationships by engaging the supply market early and building rapport/creating collaboration opportunities
- Development of robust, fit for purpose and standardised KPIs to be used within the sourcing cycle of Category Procurements
- Ensure Category Strategy points to the use of catalogues to reduce the level of manual purchase orders and technology to simplify the low-value quote process.
- Understand demand by forecasting and planning requirements with internal stakeholders and suppliers
- Analyse inputs to support development of a multi-year Category Strategy and prioritised annual pipeline of initiatives
- Support the Category Director as key point of contact for senior stakeholders in NHS, central government and local government bodies (as relevant) to the Theatres & Surgery Category
This role can be offered on a flexible and hybrid basis with attendance to the London office as required. The salary range on offer is £78,163 to £88,884.
