We are appointed by the UK government to inspect over 1400 independent schools, colleges and teacher training providers in England and overseas.

ISI’s inspection reports are used by regulators and institutions to help ensure a high-quality education for children in a safe environment.

Our head office is based in Farringdon and our staff have a wide range of professional backgrounds, with a good mix of ages, ethnic backgrounds and genders. We also have a contracted workforce of over 800 inspectors.

ISI is on a journey of transformation, and we are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR professional to join our team as Head of Human Resources.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of HR for ISI. You will play a key role in shaping and driving our People Strategy, ensuring a positive, inclusive and productive culture and work environment for our talented team.

As our Head of HR your remit will include:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with ISI’s business objectives.
  • Leading a small HR team, providing guidance and support on all People & Culture matters.
  • Overseeing the full HR lifecycle, including recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Developing and implementing effective training and development programmes for ISI staff.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant employment legislation and best practice.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to senior management on all HR issues.

As our Head of HR we are seeking an exceptional individual with:

  • A proven track record as a generalist HR professional, ideally gained within the education sector.
  • A strong understanding of employment law and best practice in HR.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing HR strategy.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • The ability to build strong and credible relationships with staff at all levels.
  • The flexibility and willingness to ‘get stuck in’ as part of a small team.
