HR Business Partner
We are Rethink Mental Illness, a leading charity provider of mental health services in England. Our vision is for equality, fair treatment and maximum quality of life for everyone affected by mental illness. Every year, we support thousands of people through our network of groups, services and helplines. We provide expert advice, information and training. And we campaign for change on a local and national level to transform the world for people with severe mental illness.
Rethink Mental Illness is a growing organisation with an ambitious strategy. We draw on the expertise, unique perspectives and lived experience of our people – regardless of who they are or their background – to help us become an inclusive and anti-racist employer, campaigning organisation and service provider that reflects the diverse communities we support as a mental health charity. We are at pivotal stage in our charity’s journey which is why we are now seeking an aspiring HR Business Partner to join our People & OD Team.
As our new HR Business Partner you will work closely and proactively with managers and leaders in your designated operational areas for all ‘people’ related needs. You will work as trusted partner to understand their operating areas and look for ways to support them in identifying areas of improvement and driving organisational performance, reducing sickness absence levels, managing underperformance, improving staff wellbeing and providing support through managing change. In addition, you will work collaboratively with People & OD expert functions to ensure the organisation receives the appropriate advice, support and solutions it needs. Crucially, you will also provide first class HR Support and advice, including in complex ER matters, taking a practical ‘hands on’ approach.
We are seeking an experienced HR professional with an appropriate professional qualification, e.g. level 5 CIPD, or equivalent professional knowledge gained through significant experience working in a professional HR capacity. You will demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of employment law and its application in practice, together with experience of advising the business on the risks associated with employee cases. You will also ideally bring a track record of delivering successful change management projects and supporting organisational change. Importantly you will be someone who likes to drive continuous improvement with forward thinking HR solutions and who can support this with a ‘practical hands-on’ approach.
You do not need to have worked in mental health services to join us, but you will ideally have previous experience in the not-for-profit sector and bring a desire to help transform the world for people affected by severe mental illness. Importantly you will share our strong commitment to be an anti-racist organisation and align to our values and our principles around Equity Diversity and Inclusion.
If you believe you have what we need to be our new HR Business Partner and are interested in joining Rethink on our journey, we would love to hear from you.
