Dear Applicant

Thank you for your interest in this role. You would be joining LCBT at an exciting time, our recent Ofsted inspection report was published in July 2013 and recognises our continued success in quality and expansion into new sectors with learners and employers interests and aspirations remaining at the forefront of everything that we do.

An independent provider of education since 1995 for specialist sectors, LCBT was awarded direct funding status in 2004 by the LSC. Year on year we have met and exceeded our targets for enrolment and success and maintain contracts with the Education Funding Agency (EFA) and Skills Finding Agency (SFA) with even greater targets to fulfil this year.

The secret to our success has remained the same; open all year, monthly enrolment on most programmes, no term breaks - employers able to recruit throughout the year!

I founded the college in 1995, the first publicly funded provision for the beauty sector, having identified significant skills shortages in a booming sector. This dynamic sector has continued to grow, even through periods of economic decline and our learners, approximately 2000 in 2012/13, enjoy progression rates above 90% into further education or employment! This supports our mission ‘Courses for Careers’ and given that 21% of our learners record prior attainment levels of Level 1 and below, this is testament to the fantastic team of highly motivated and experienced individuals at LCBT.

Last year in particular we enjoyed significant growth and success within the health and fitness sector, this is set to increase further this year with further expansion into hospitality and health & social care. Our landmark premises in the heart of Central London and reputation for quality appeal to a range of sectors; business administration and customer services, along with sector compliance courses and commercial delivery have all seen growth with demand for more.

We will build on our workplace learning success with delivery in the sectors above this year and will look to grow the team of remote Learning and Development trainers at regional and national level.

In order to support this development, our staff remain key. As HR Director you will set the strategy to support the growth, ensuring the employment of the relevant skills and commercial experience to underpin our future development.

LCBT was reaccredited by Investors in People in June 2011 and achieved IIP Silver status, this recognised the considerable investment we make in our staff; internal progression opportunities, professional development - we aim to achieve a committed and aspirational workforce with a culture of embracing new ideas and opportunities.

You will work alongside a team of directors with significant experience of both public and private sector. You will appreciate the responsibility that public funding brings, including the procedures, formalities and diligence required to record outstanding results at inspection and achievement or reaccreditation of quality marks and standards. Alongside this, you will relish the opportunity to work in an organisation that focuses on commercial need and growth in dynamic sectors who expect nothing short of outstanding themselves.

I look forward to hearing from you.
