Trust Overview

The collective hospitals now provide a comprehensive portfolio of high quality acute healthcare services to a critical mass of more than c.526,000 people living across Lewisham, Greenwich and North Bexley together with a broad portfolio of community services.

With a combined number of over 1,000 beds, the organisation is now on a similar scale to other major London Trusts.  By building on the strengths of teams both in Lewisham and Greenwich, the larger organisation will be better able to face the challenges the of the NHS with the potential to create an outstanding Trust.

Campaign Overview

The Procurement and Supplies Department specifically is taking significant steps to maximise the value the function delivers the Trust by implementing a new Procurement strategy.  The strategy focuses on delivering improvements focussed on three key areas:-

Organisation & Governance

  • Re-structuring the department; introducing the new role of Category Managers to be Divisional Business Partners and increase time spent on strategic, cost reduction activities
  • Strengthening the Procurement governance model to ensure better integration across the Trust, increased visibility of procurement opportunities enabling the function to influence and control spend across the Trust

Process & Technology

  • Introducing new e-procurement tools to support procurement activities and help gain greater control of spend, reduce time spent on operational tasks and improve compliance and data quality
  • Improving Standard Operating Procedures, providing targeted Procurement training and looking for opportunities to improve processes

Innovation

  • Investing in analytics and increasing engagement with suppliers to identify cost reduction opportunities and supplier performance

By joining the Trust's Procurement Department now, you can play a key role in shaping the future success of the function.
