Dorset Councils Partnership win The MJ's Workforce Transformation award

Dorset Councils Partnership (DCP) beat off stiff competition from five other local authorities to win the workforce transformation award at The MJ Local Government Excellence Awards held at the prestigious London Hilton Hotel in Park Lane on 27th June, 2018.

Morgan Law and PPMA who co-sponsored the Workforce Transformation award were looking for a winner that could demonstrate the passion and purpose behind their workforce transformation programme and deliver sustainable benefits to the organisation and the public they serve.

Having gone through a rigorous judging process, Dorset Councils Partnership stood out as a clear winner. The partnership showed true collaboration and clearly transformed their workforce and service delivery.

Gareth Elwin, Managing Director at Morgan Law and on the judging panel, explained that Dorset Councils Partnership demonstrated the qualities the judging panel were looking for in abundance through their tri-council partnership:

“Dorset Councils Partnership saw the creation of a tri-council partnership under one chief executive and a senior leadership team as a real opportunity for transformational change. They passionately embraced their vision of ‘stronger together’ by working together to decipher and create a shared culture across the three former councils into a combined workforce to develop their people, including their members, and deliver sustainable and improved services for their customers.”

Karen Grave, President of the PPMA also added:

“The entry from DCP was a very worthy winner of this award category, beating off very stiff competition. Achieving meaningful and transformational change in one organisation is challenging enough, but to deliver effective change across three organisations is an outstanding outcome. There is no question that this is a model that others can look to and DCP should be rightly proud of itself”.

Dorset Councils Partnership, which is the first tri-council model in the country that has a single Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team and a combined workforce serving three sovereign councils has made the area a better place for people to live work and visit. Matt Prosser, Chief Executive of Dorset Councils Partnership said:

“It’s fantastic that Dorset Councils Partnership has won. In 2015 when the partnership was formed, our mission was for our workforce to become leaders in providing transformed and sustainable services to residents, and I think this award is real validation that we have achieved what we set out to do.

“We have a fantastic workforce and I think this puts us on a great footing to support the next stage of the Dorset transformation story.”
