As an organisation, we have been caring for servicemen and women, their families and veterans for over 128 years. We believe that the commitment of our Forces and their families deserves our lifelong support. So we provide practical, emotional and financial support to anyone who is serving or has ever served (and their families). Our family values guide everything we do - we are committed, practical and understanding and whatever the problem is, we'll find a way to solve it.

To deliver this support, we currently have 900 paid staff and 7500 volunteers and first class recruitment, induction, administration and training are essential if they are to be fully effective in their job.

I am looking for a new Director of People and Organisational Development to lead our small but talented HR and Training team. As such, you will report directly to me. In addition to all the normal HR and Training functions set out in the job description, you will also help me and the other three Deputy Controllers set the strategic direction for the charity.

SSAFA are undergoing a period of significant change - if we are to give the best possible support to our beneficiaries, we need to ensure that we have the best possible "people support" and much needs to be done both strategically and tactically to make that the case. Consequently, I am looking for a dynamic, pragmatic individual who is keen to play a full part in setting the new standard and leading us though the necessary changes.
