The relationship between St George’s University of London and St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust is unique in London.  Their shared premises encourage the unfettered flow of education, research and clinical care to pass between both organisations. It is a strategic priority of both organisations to seek mutually beneficial alliances working more closely together. In support of that aim we are now seeking a new Joint Director of Estates and Facilities.

This is a key leadership role, accountable to the Chief Executive of St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust and the Principal of St George’s University, and with the lead for developing an integrated joint estates and facilities provision, you have the potential to have significant impact in both organisations.  In this role you will:

  • Deliver the Trust’s capital investment and redevelopment programme, from business case to project completion, which includes funded projects to expand critical care and develop a new private patients unit as well as a women’s and children’s hospital;
  • Lead the development of our estates strategy including ensuring we have a robust development control plan in place for our main site which makes the most effective use of space across the Trust and the University; and
  • Look to further improve our commercial opportunities for the benefit of our patients, staff and students as well as ensure that across both the Trust and University we are contracting and delivering our facilities services in a way which drives improvements and efficiencies.

We are looking for someone who brings an exceptional track record of delivery at a senior level in either the public or private sector. You will have a depth of experience in capital projects and estate management and are highly likely to have led large commercial negotiations. You will have the impact and gravitas required to be successful at Board/Executive level across both organisations and you will be someone used to working with, and influencing, a range of stakeholders.
