IT Services at the University aims to provide a high-quality networking, computing and support service to help all members of the University make the best use of information technology. As such a new role has been created to define, implement and maintain an information technology systems architecture for the University of Sussex and to ensure technical solutions are clearly aligned to business goals.
Working with colleagues across the University you will create strong relationships with stakeholders, understanding their needs, translating them into a technical vision and producing the strategic plan to realise this. You will ensure the IT architecture is complete and fit-for-purpose in terms of its ability to address stakeholder requirements and solutions in a cost effective manner, balancing the desire for short term tactical improvements against long term aims and gains.
Familiarity with HE systems architectures is highly desirable and the successful post holder will be able to demonstrate a career history showing progression within architectural roles within a challenging, changeable environment comprising multiple business systems and a need for synergy; Experience of a range of systems development practices and methods with a good understanding of the relevance of each when considering various types of technical change programme; A track record of delivering world class architecture solutions within a large, complex operation where flexibility and value for money are key success factors and knowledge of architecture development tools and techniques, TOGAF, Zachman etc is essential.
