South Western Ambulance Service. Responsive. Committed. Effective.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has a longstanding reputation for quality, innovation and high performance. It was the first ambulance service to be authorised as an NHS Foundation Trust and in February 2013 the Trust acquired its neighbouring Trust, creating a single ambulance service that covers the entire south west region. Employing around 4,000 staff and with an income of £225m, the Trust serves a resident population of over 5.3 million people together with an estimated 17.5 million tourists and provides emergency care to around 2,500 people every day. As well as A&E care it provides GP Out of Hours Urgent Care Services, Patient Transport Services and the new NHS 111 Service.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust. Committed to service innovation and providing patients with the most appropriate care, the Trust is already treating more patients safely and appropriately at home than any other ambulance service in the UK. With wide ranging services provided across many communities, it is uniquely placed to share and develop best practice with healthcare partners across the South West and ensure there is a resilient and sustainable approach to emergency care.
