The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group connects 96 of the world’s greatest cities which have committed to tackling climate change. We bring mayors from around the world together to learn from each other in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating resilient, sustainable and low carbon cities. C40 cities represent more than 700 million urban citizens and their economies account for 25% of the global GDP. Headquartered in New York, and with offices in London, Rio de Janeiro, Copenhagen, Beijing, and individual staff based across 25+ different locations, C40 has grown from an organisation with 45 staff to over 260 staff in the last 5 years. As part of this growth, we have expanded operations in over 50 cities across the world and seek to maintain this growth as the subject of climate change continues to be of utmost importance.
C40 is entering an exciting new business plan period as we continue to support mayors to achieve their commitments to tackling climate change through the C40 Leadership Standards. These Standards form the basis of C40’s objectives and core activity and are the foundation of how we will measure our success over the next four years. There is significant work required to develop and lead the People Strategy that will underpin our success, which is why we are now seeking an exceptional People and Organisational Development expert to join the C40 team.
This is a brand-new transformational role, which will lead on developing our People Strategy and organisational development following our rapid growth. As our Director of Organisational Development & HR you will act as an internal consultant to senior staff on all People issues and will manage the Human Resources function to deliver organisational development priorities and support C40 to be an inclusive, diverse organization.
To be our new Director of Organisational Development & HR you will require a global mindset and high degree of cultural awareness gained from a background within international, high profile and ideally political organisations. Your significant senior level organisational development and design experience and detailed understanding of the HR issues of operating globally in a complex rapidly growing and changing organization will ideally also include proven experience of transformational change at team and organisational level.
