The Great Western NHS Foundation Trust is one of the biggest healthcare providers and employers in the South West serving a population of over 300,000 people with an annual turnover of over £300 million.

Our large and modern hospital has around 460 beds, numerous outpatient clinics, CT and MRI scanner, maternity services, an Intensive Care Unit and 24/7 Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centre.

The role

We are currently looking to recruit a highly experienced, professional and motivated Head of Financial Management to lead financial management across the Trust.

The post holder will be required to lead Annual Budget Setting and the Annual Planning process, Monthly Budget reporting and work with the Trust’s Programme Management Office (PMO) in the development and monitoring of Cost Improvement Plans.

The role is a member of the Finance Senior Management Team and will be required to attend high level operational and financial meetings on a regular basis.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will work closely with the wider senior finance team and you will play a pivotal role in the leadership of the finance function.

The post holder will specifically provide excellent leadership to the Financial Business Partners and be expected to use high level technical, analytical, presentational, interpersonal and negotiating skills to develop effective working relationships with a range of internal and external senior managers across the organisation.

About you

• To succeed in this role at GWH you will:
• Be a qualified Accountant with substantial financial management experience in a medium to large and complex organisation.
• Have excellent understanding of management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Have experience of working with Operational teams in the development of Savings Plans and Business Cases
• Have experience of leading annual budget setting and planning processes
