We are looking for a Press Officer to join a Professional Body based in Central London to communicate some of the biggest issues facing our members.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and creative Press Officer, who will be responsible for driving both proactive and reactive media work for the organisation.
As well as building and maintaining relationships with key journalists and media titles, a key element of the role is to identify both organisational activity and related issues and turn this into compelling media stories to engage our target audiences and demonstrate the organisation’s responsibilities.
From briefing media and organising interviews, to developing and pitching regular and targeted media ideas, op-eds and blogs, this is an opportunity to demonstrate a talent in delivering relevant and timely news coverage across print, broadcast and digital media.
The successful candidate will have experience in a similar role within a press office, newsroom or other communication team and will be able to demonstrate success of implementing campaigns and writing media releases in the UK health environment.
They will have excellent knowledge of UK national and regional media, as well as a genuine interest for health communications. It is also crucial for the candidate to have the ability to translate and deliver scientific information comprehensively, to a range of audiences.
Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that the successful candidate is highly proactive, has strong IT skills, an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise their workload effectively to hit tight deadlines.
