Director of Communications
Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is one of the leading providers of mental health, learning disability and drug & alcohol services for people of all ages in Southern England. We deliver high quality care across our 140 services, employing 2,300 staff across 39 sites, serving a population of 1.3 million.

As Director of Communications, you will report to the Deputy Chief Executive and lead a team delivering and continually improving our external and internal communications work.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading a creative, modern and proactive communications service to ensure that we have a positive organisational presence that reflects of our vision and values, including managing our media and stakeholder relations
- Championing a listening and engagement culture, ensuring the voices of people that use our services, staff, stakeholders and communities can be heard at an organisational level
- Improving access to better healthcare and advice by developing high quality information resources and campaigns in partnership with clinical staff and people with lived experience of mental ill-health , drug and alcohol addictions, and learning disabilities
- Working alongside the Director of Workforce to improve the experience of our workforce through high quality internal communications and staff engagement
- Partnering with other health and social care providers across local communities to develop strategic, system-wide communications that support our health economy
- Directing the marketing communications elements of new business development, research projects and service launches
- Overseeing the publication of key documents to ensure we meet our statutory requirements including Annual Report and Accounts, Annual Equality Accounts
You will be a senior communications professional with significant experience in a complex, service led organisation that has a high level of public interest and engagement. You will be passionate and knowledgeable about digital engagement and innovations in communications, ensuring we harness the potential of these channels to reach many more people of all ages across our communities . You will bring a track record of success in communications change management, understanding the transformative impact you can make through effective engagement with our workforce and stakeholders during periods of transition. You will also need to demonstrate a strong values base and be passionate about improving the emotional wellbeing of people using services, their carers and families.
