Based at the heart of London’s vibrant South Bank, the National Theatre is a creative and cultural organisation of worldwide renown. The National Theatre is dedicated to making the very best theatre and sharing it with as many people as possible. The National’s work is also seen on tour throughout the UK and internationally, and in collaborations and co-productions with regional theatres.

IT is fundamental to every aspect of the National Theatre’s operations. The IT department supports systems and services that underpin both customer facing services as well as the theatre’s internal operations. Key line of business services includes: the NT website; ticketing, CRM and e-marketing systems; Retail systems; finance applications; DAM/NLE systems used by their Broadcast team; CAD and other specialist theatre applications; and an internally-developed theatre planning and scheduling system. The IT team is responsible for core IT service support across 3 sites for over 1,000 staff.
The Director of IT will provide leadership & management of the central IT service leading a high performing team with a strong service culture. You will own & develop the IT strategy driving delivery, incorporating governance and project plans to ensure the IT strategy is aligned to the business. You should be people focused, able to support & develop an effective team.

As importantly, you will also be able to work collaboratively as a member of the Theatre’s senior management team, using your expertise and skill to ensure that their investment in IT continues to drive forward the NT’s business objectives – artistically, commercially and in terms of audience. This is a senior role that requires both inspiring leadership and effective liaison and cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders.

The National Theatre want their workforce to be representative of all sections of society and welcome applications from everyone. As users of the Disability Confident scheme, they guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for this and all vacancies.
