The organisation has an important role as a trusted partner in supporting, stabilising and sustaining general practice in London. Londonwide LMCs is the overarching organisation that represents Local Medical Committees in 27 boroughs across the capital and we support our Practices with guidance on pan-London and local issues via our Primary Care, Medical, Communications, Resources, GP Support and Workforce Training and Innovation directorates. We provide specialist advice and guidance on a wide range of issues with our focus on securing the future of general practice in London, with pride, passion and professionalism.

We are known for successfully representing our constituents on a Pan-London basis and have become well known as the trusted partner to GP Practices. We are responsible for positively effecting over 8.4m patients across London whilst representing 7,000 GPs and 15,000 Practice Staff.
We have a clear strategic plan for 2020/2021 which we want to:

  • Enable stabilisation of general practice.
  • Enable transformation of general practice so that it is fit for the future.
  • Support transition from short to long term sustainability.

After a recent demand & capacity review, we have identified the requirement for two additional Deputy Directors of Primary Care Strategy.

As Deputy Director of Primary Care Strategy, key areas of focus will include:
  • To work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Primary Care Strategy to build strong and influential stakeholder relationships to increase the stability and long-term sustainability of general practice in London.
  • To provide contractual expertise to the team including analysis of impact of proposed contracts on Londonwide LMCs GP Practice and their patients.
  • To support a Strategic Leadership Network (SLN) mirroring an STP area and a number of Local Medical Committees within a definite geographical area.
  • To implement programmes of work across the SLN clearly highlighted in the 2020/2021 strategy.

We are looking for an individual that has a complex knowledge of NHS Contracting across Primary Care/General Practice and a deep understanding of the challenges facing general practice, GPs and practice staff. We are looking for an individual who has excellent stakeholder engagement skills who can work effectively in a team as well as having a high level of self-discipline when working autonomously. It’s important that you have excellent communication & presentation skills as you’ll be regularly negotiating contracts on behalf of GPs.
