Are you an experienced Risk Manager ready to step into a high-impact role shaping strategy and strengthening governance?
We’re supporting a Local Authority to appoint an interim Risk Manager on a minimum 6‑month assignment. This is a fantastic opportunity to influence senior leadership, drive enterprise risk strategy, and embed best practice across a complex organisation.
The Role
You’ll lead and develop the organisation’s risk management strategy, working closely with senior leaders to ensure risks are proactively identified, assessed, and managed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Driving and embedding an enterprise risk management framework (ERM)
- Acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and leadership teams
- Leading risk identification, analysis, mitigation, and reporting Supporting governance through collaboration with internal audit, finance, and compliance teams
- Horizon scanning to anticipate emerging risks across political, regulatory, and economic landscapes
- Championing continuous improvement and service transformation
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- Strong experience in strategic risk management (ideally public sector / local government)
- Expertise in governance, audit, and financial/regulatory frameworks
- Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders and decision-makers
- Experience leading risk frameworks, transformation, or organisational change
- A proactive, advisory mindset with excellent communication skills
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. IRM) or equivalent experience
