Exciting opportunity to use your professional and leadership skills to help improve the lives of people diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.

Director of Finance & Resources

Circa £65,000 - £70,000

London SE11

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. We support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
Our pledge is bold, ambitious and inspiring.

Within ten years:

  • We will transform survival rates, from only one in every two people surviving bowel cancer over five years, to three out of four people surviving
  • There will be better information and support for every patient throughout their journey
  • Screening will be optimal, leading to more cancers being prevented or detected early

We are now seeking to appoint to the new post of Director of Finance & Resources. Reporting to our Chief Executive Officer, you will set the strategy and direction of the finance function.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading financial strategy, planning, financial stewardship and control, and enhancing organisation-wide business improvement.
  • Providing a wide range of strategic business support, financial analysis and information to the Board and its sub-committees, the executive team and wider management.
  • Managing and developing the Finance Division and its staff, driving forwards improvements to our systems and practices to deliver a first class financial service to stakeholders
  • Acting as a key member of Bowel Cancer Uk’s senior leadership team to participate in the development of charities vision, mission and strategic direction
  • Working closely with the Chief Executive and with colleagues across the charity, develop and implement the charity’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy
  • Advise the Chief Executive and SLT on HR issues
  • Lead on all aspects of IT and data management and oversee the development of an IT and data management strategy.
  • Lead on a review of the charity’s use of technology and develop and implement a strategy for maximising the use of digital technology across the charity.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with a track record of achievement at a senior level in a similar sized organisation. You will be an experienced, visible and inspiring leader, sharing our passion for social justice and championing the difference that strong financial management can make to our front line activities.
